Steam turbine surface condenser is shell and tube heat exchanger to condensate exhaust steam in power plants. It converts steam into condensate water and builds vacuum environment at the outlet of steam turbine. A condenser is classified into surface condenser or direct-contact condenser.
Surface condenser is classified into water cooling or air cooling. Cooling medium goes through tube pass, while exhaust steam goes through shell pass. Exhaust steam condensates into water on the surface of tubes.
Surface condenser consists of shell, tube bundle, hot well, water box, etc. To maintain high vacuum degree and good heat transfer performance inside condenser, an ejector vacuum system is necessary. It could extract non-condensable gas and air leaked into condenser out.
