Function
ZG12 series damping resistor is specially designed to absorb higher harmonics and prevent resonance in the high-voltage output circuit of rectifier transformer for electrostatic precipitator (ESP). Damping resistor is installed between output end of ESP transformer and electric fields.
Install location
From the point of safety, we suggest to install damping resistor on vertical contact of disconnect switch or wall bushing before ESP electric field. If damping resistor is installed on lead-out line of ESP transformer, service life of rubber sealing on HV end will be influenced due to constant heat release from damping resistor during working.
Material & Quality
High class ESP damping resistor is made of galvanized steel cover, Ni-Cr alloy resistance wire, alumina insulator. 30% alumina makes insulator hard, strong and clear appearance, while insulator made of clay is easy to find flaws and crackings. And resistance wire made of Ni-Cr alloy is featured with good thermal resistance, low thermal expansion, low noise, high load, accurate resistance, etc.
Structure & Size
Due to space limit inside disconnect switch cabinet, damping resistor size is kept within safe range to avoid high voltage arcing phenomenon. Normally, it diameter is 75 or 100mm, length is 230 or 380mm. Ceramic insulator structure & size has definite influence on heat radiation of electric resistance wire. Under the same power and resistance, bigger and longer insulator has better performance.
