Rack and pinion gate

Function

 

Rack and pinion gate is installed at  raw coal bunker outlet to control feed stream into pulverizer in thermal power plant.

 

Structure

 

Rack and pinion gate consists of framework, rack and pinion, slide gate, enclosed casing, speed reducing unit, electric actuator, etc.

 

Working principle

 

Electric actuator drives pinion shaft to rotate. Pinion, which is welded to pinion shaft, travels on rack. Then two sliding gates made of thick metal sheet, which are connected with rack, moves horizontally and oppositely inside valve body to start or stop coal flow.
