ESP rapping system

Electrostatic precipitator rapper is used to clean dust deposited on collecting electrode plates and discharge electrode wires.

 

If too much dust particles cake on discharge electrode wires, corona discharge will be influenced. Therefore, ionization can not get desired performance and particles can not be electrically charged easily. If too much dust particles cake on collecting electrode plates, it will result in back corona phenomenon. Electric field strength is much weakened. Anyway, electrostatic precipitator rapper is required to break dust layer from electrodes to maintain its filtration performance.

 

There are different types of ESP rapping system: electromagnetic vibrator, pneumatic rapper, mechanical rapper, tumbling hammper. In practice, electromagnetic vibrator and tumbling hammer is widely used.

 

Electromagnetic vibrator rapper is usually placed on roof of ESP. It is made of a steel casing, inside which is a bobbin coil and rapper bar. The bar will be lifted by strong magnetic field when electric current passes through the coil. And when magnetic field disappears, the bar will fall down under gravity and impact on a rod, which will transmit the force to electrodes.

 

 

Tumbling hammer rapper (or mechanical rapping hammer system) is usually placed side of ESP and connted to bottom of electrodes. It consists of driving motor, reducer, shaft and some hammers. These hammers are mounted on shaft by U clamp. When the shaft rotates, these staggered hammers will rap the electrodes in sequence. Rapping strength and frequency could be adjusted to keep the best performance.

 

 

Electrostatic precipitator rapper is important for ESP cleaning. A ESP rapping system in bad condition would greatly reduce dust collection efficiency.
