With one inlet and two outlets, diverter valve could switch or split material flow to receiving points in bulk material conveying system. It is often seen in power plant, cement plant, steel plant to process materials like coal, iron ore, aggregate, cement, etc. Materials from upstream equipment (normally belt conveyor) will be directed to downstream equipment (conveyor, crusher, storage silo, chute) by changing position of flap.
In coal fired power plant, coal handling conveyor normally has standby unit for safe operation. Diverter valve is widely used between different stages of belt conveyor to ensure continuous coal feeding ability.
Above is a flap type diverter valve. By changing position of flap, material flow is switched between two outlets. It is featured with simple structure, but easy to get stuck or jammed.
Above is upgrade version of flap diverter valve. Both sides of its flap is welded with vertical plate of sector shape to form a chute structure. And 20mm distance is kept between vertical plate and steel casing to avoid stucking problem. Coals are guided through diverter valve smoothly. This diverter valve get widely used due to its much improvement. It is featured with flexible rotation, reliable operation and less maintenance, but it can’t make a switch without interruption of material flow.
Above is a DFS series diverter valve with inner sleeve structure. It can not only switch between outlets during operation, but also split material flow within 0-100%.
