Venturi scrubber

Application

 

Venturi scrubber is an air pollution control equipment widely used in industries like chemical, building material, metallurgy, sugar making, paper & pulp making, chemical, coal chemical, mining, etc. It could process various off gases like coke oven gas, blast furnace gas, converter gas, flue gas by wet scrubbing. The whole scrubbing system consists of a jet ejector, liquid separator, sedimentation tank, circulating water pump, etc.

 

Function

 

1. Physical scrubbing. A jet flow of clean water generated by ejector is used to entrain dirty off gas. Dust particles content after treatment could meet with emission standard. Soluble pollutants like chlorine, ammonia and HCL gas will dissolve in water and be removed.
2. Chemical absorption. Some chemical agents are added into water to react with hazardous matters in off gas. For example, NO2 could react with alkaline solution. Reaction product dissolved in water is much easier to be treated.
3. Cooling. High temperature fume would be cooled down by water.

 

Working principle

 

Scrubbing liquid, normally water, is pumped into scrubber from the top. When sprayed water passes through converging section, its speed increases and reaches the highest at throat part. Gas containing particulate and gases pollutant is entrained inside. Water flow at high velocity will create turbulence status. Dirty gas is mixed with water. Dust particles are wetted and captured, and gaseous pollutants are either dissolved, or reacted. Gas is purified and released, while pollutants are collected in sedimentation tank for further process.

• Dust removal efficiency could be 99% for particles with size 0.5-5μm.
• Small investment. It could take place of electrostatic precipitator to remove fine dust with size 0.1-1μm.
• Huge temperature decline. It could reduce temperature from hundreds of degrees to dozens of degrees.
• Stable dust collection performance, not influenced by dust content in inlet gas.
• It could recover valuable products from off gas.
• Material made of stainless steel, reinforced fiberglass, or steel lined with PTFE.
• Large liquid/gas volume ratio 20-50.
